Check before
you host.

Providing a registered office or an address makes your business centre a company service provider, and therefore an obliged entity. AML Company checks every company before you host it.

Does this concern you?

Three services are enough to make you an obliged entity

As soon as your centre provides one of these services to a third party, professionally, the law counts you among company service providers.

01

Providing a statutory seat

You host a company's official registered office at your address.

02

Providing an address

A commercial, postal or administrative address, and the services that come with it.

03

Acting on shares

Taking part in the purchase or sale of shares in an unlisted company.

Proportionate diligence

Not every client
is the same.

The law requires diligence proportionate to the risk. AML Company grades every hosted company and adapts how deep your checks go.

What the law expects

Your duties,
kept up to date for you.

As soon as you provide a statutory seat or an address, you apply the same diligence baseline as any other obliged entity.

Legal basis: art. 5, §1, 29° of the Act of 18 September 2017, referring to art. 3, 1° of the Act of 29 March 2018

General information based on the Belgian framework; it is not legal advice. Whether the duties actually apply depends on the services effectively provided.

  • Identification and verification of the client's identity (KYC)
  • Identification of the ultimate beneficial owners (UBO register)
  • Assessment of money-laundering and terrorist-financing risks
  • Ongoing diligence and monitoring of transactions
  • Reporting suspicions to the CTIF
  • Retention of the documents and appointment of an AMLCO
Frequently asked questions

Registered-office services
and anti-money laundering.

Is a business centre covered by anti-money-laundering law?

Yes, as soon as it professionally provides a statutory seat or a commercial, postal or administrative address, it acts as a company service provider and falls within the scope of the Act of 18 September 2017. It must then apply the anti-money-laundering diligence duties.

What must I check before hosting a company?

Identify the client and its ultimate beneficial owners, understand the nature and purpose of the relationship, check that there are no sanctions or risk signals, then retain the evidence of those checks. AML Company prefills these steps from the CBE data.

Will the scope change with the European AMLR regulation?

Yes. Regulation (EU) 2024/1624, applicable from 10 July 2027, will widen the definition of company service providers (company formation, director mandates, nominee arrangements). Getting ahead now avoids a rushed compliance project.

Is a file needed for every hosted company?

Yes: every business relationship gives rise to its own diligence file, retained and kept up to date. The platform centralises those files and their audit trail, ready for an inspection.
